This new wireless platform that adapts near-field communication (NFC) technology and microscale LED technologies for optogenetic studies beyond the brain. The reported devices are designed specifically for implantation in a minimally invasive fashion over the mouse spinal cord for wireless and battery-free optogenetic interrogation of spinal circuits in freely moving animals. The studies utilized NeuroLux software and hardware, demonstrating the versatility of the core technology for neuroscience research. The paper can be found here.
